My Alma Mater - Bob Jones University. Makes me proud that good Christians don't roll over and play dead in the face of danger.

Can you believe he had only had the gun for 1 month? And, what was he thinking... a .22? The only reason for owning a Walther P22 is if you are planning on adding a silencer - it isn't much of a target gun. Maybe he thought that was all his wife could handle.

I sent my wife to the concealed carry course with a Glock 19 ( 9mm) and she used a .22 auto borrowed from the instructor to qualify.....and fell in love with it.....came home and didn't want to shoot anything but my Ruger MkII.

Took me months to break her of that wimpy little gun.

"Honey.....you AIN'T practicing for the shooting gallery at the county fair."

My alarm will scare off most intruders.

I suspect that most are number 2 types.

....

I got shot with a pump BB gun when I was a kid... I really don't care to get a .22 in the bicep... so I guess that makes me a #2 :rolleyes_m:

Yeah.....mine too.... dogs barking followed by the sound of the slide racking on a Mossberg pump. IF that doesn't get them to move along, they really need shooting because you're dealing with a serious nutcase.

Combine that with the fact that most people aren't even able to hit the guy in their first gun fight, I'm not convinced bigger is better. I think maybe more shots available might be better.

I still have a .45 (or two) but I've gone to 9mm for regular use....

Been 'zactly my thinking for a long time.

More rounds = better odds to put holes in someone that needs ventilation.

Good job by the preacher man. But he really needs to rethink his security setup. If they were only alerted to this intruder by the time he was already in a nearby bathroom, it would be for most cases too late. He should consider himself lucky.

You need some kind of alarm system or noisy obstructions (like locked doors) between you and the intruders to give you ample time to retrieve your firearm before the intruder enters your living space.

Good points. Maybe a dog would have been a big help - perhaps even prevented the killing. Also, he needs to have some instruction in defense tactics. I have a feeling he was too close to the intruder. He is lucky the guy didn't hit an artery with that knife. Medics might not have been there soon enough.

Preacher man is fortunate that the thugs of the NAACP didn't swarm out of the woodwork, "you'z be a racist muthuh fu**uh!":

"Emzie Lee Smith, 54, was found dead inside 9 Lake Shore Drive with multiple gunshot wounds and a knife near his body, said Greenville County Deputy Coroner Scott Ramsey."

Emzie Lee Smith. Ain't no White guy!

Not true at all, there are many BJU graduates that are African American,
they have however disallowed inter-racial dating which caused them to lose
their tax-exempt status. I don't agree with the policy but I do admire them
telling Uncle Sam to take their tax-exempt status threat and shove it
you know where,

I was there 7 years. I did summer school one summer, and I often played Cricket when I was the ONLY WHITE PERSON on the field.

BJU is known for being "racist" because of a policy prohibiting inter-racial dating. Let me clarify this issue for you. In the 1970s the first black student enrolled at BJU. Him being a guy surrounded by girls he set on dating one of them. Her parents were NOT happy, and when they withdrew from school and eloped her parents sued the university. THEY WON THE SUIT because according to the laws of THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA interracial marriage was still illegal then. BJU was guilty as an accessory to this crime of interracial marriage. This is where the ban on interracial dating came from.

Ironically it was this ban that cost them their tax-exempt status in the 1980s because it wasn't PC. BJU has since lifted the ban (because it is no longer illegal in SC).

Just thought you would be interested in the whole story.

PS - They are still the ONLY taxed educational institution in the country. The former VP was a very saavy business man, so he just made sure that they never made money ;)
